We live in a world where poor lifestyle, sedentariness, and obesity are the norm. In fact, chances are you are reading this article hunched over your computer at your desk. And, if you’re like most people, you’ve probably been there for a while.

Poor lifestyle coupled with age can lead to numerous health problems, from heart disease and diabetes to bone deterioration, joint inflammation, and so on.

But, you’re not here to read a list of your aches and pains. You want a solution, so you want to know if Omega XL can truly reduce inflammation and alleviate your joint pain.

Here’s everything you need to know about this Omega-3 supplement before you buy it.

What Is Omega XL?

Omega XL is a health supplement made with Omega-3 fatty acids extracted from the green lipped mussels in New Zealand. It contains more than 30 different types of fatty acids, including DHA and EPA, which have been shown to play a vital role in reducing cellular inflammation. Moreover, Omega XL claims to contain up to 22 more fatty acids than regular fish oils.

Omega XL promises to help reduce joint pain associated with inflammation while also easing your pain. The science is on their side here, with numerous studies proving the effectiveness of Omega-3 fatty acids in reducing inflammation, lowering blood pressure, and decreasing the risks of heart disease.

What Makes Omega XL Better Than Other Fish Supplements?

One of the things that make Omega XL stand apart from other fish oils is that they clearly state the source of their ingredients. When you buy these dietary supplements, you know for a fact that the fatty acids have been extracted from green lipped mussels found in the waters of New Zealand. Since the source is New Zealand, you also have a guarantee that the supplements had limited exposure to contaminants, such as mercury, found in other parts of the ocean.

Another big positive is the fact that Omega XL comes in a convenient form, smaller than most fish oil tablets on the market. That way, you won’t have to struggle to swallow a chunky gel cap that risks getting stuck in your throat or esophagus.

On the downside, however, we don’t know for sure what is in Omega XL. The company provides little information regarding the ingredients that make up their proprietary formula. We know that it contains both EPA and DHA, but we don’t know in what quantity.

Instead of focusing on what we don’t know, let’s take a look at the ingredients that are listed on the label and analyze their benefits.

  • Green Lipped Mussels

Due to their rich Omega-3 content, green lipped mussels are effective in treating swollen joints and aches. In one study, green lipped mussels received a 3 out of 5 score regarding their effectiveness in treating Osteoarthritis.

If you’re allergic to seafood, don’t worry. All the proteins from the green lipped mussels have been removed so you can use this supplement. Just to be on the safe side, make sure to consult with your physician first.

  • Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that helps the body fight against free radicals by boosting the immune system and increasing the production of red blood cells. While vitamin E plays a crucial role, it has no effect on joint inflammation. It can, however, help alleviate your joint pain.

  • Olive Oil

Olive oil contains a natural compound called oleocanthal which may help prevent joint inflammation. In one study, patients who were given four teaspoons of cold pressed olive oil every day showed increased mobility after 12 weeks of treatment. Due to olive oil’s ability to reduce inflammation, their pain had been greatly reduced. Thus, their mobility increased significantly.

Can’t I Just Eat More Fish You May Ask?

Eating more fish can be an excellent way to supplement your Omega-3 intake. But, here’s the problem. A 2009 study conducted by the U.S. government found that out of more than 200 freshwater fish tested, every single one was contaminated with mercury. Not only that, but the mercury level was higher than the imposed limit. Some of the top most contaminated fish include swordfish, mackerel, tuna, and the Chilean sea bass.

With Omega XL, on the other hand, you know that the supplements come from the pristine waters of New Zealand and are less likely to be contaminated.

Of course, that’s not to say that you should give up fish altogether. Instead, you should eat around 12 ounces of fish per week combined with supplements to ensure the right intake of Omega-3 fatty acids.

Is There Any Research Supporting Omega XL?

Omega XL advertises that its health supplements have been 30 years in the making and that they’ve conducted numerous clinical studies to create a potent formula that can truly reduce cellular inflammation and alleviate joint pain.

It’s not unusual for supplement companies to claim that their formulas are well-researched, but they rarely back up these affirmations.

That’s not the case with Omega XL. The company actually provides scientific research that proves the benefits of their Omega-3 fatty acid complex.

Are There Any Side Effects?

No, there aren’t any side effects to taking Omega XL. As mentioned above, all the proteins from the green lipped mussels have been removed, so even people with shellfish allergies could take these supplements.

More than that, Omega XL doesn’t interact with some medication, such as blood thinners. But, since each person is different, we would recommend that you talk with your doctor before taking Omega XL, especially if you are taking other medications.

Conclusion

While there are a few downsides, such as the fact that we don’t know too much about the ingredients, we recommend that you try Omega XL. Unlike other fish oils supplements, you know the source of this one. Not to mention that their formula is backed up by more than 30 years of research.

The bottom line is if you’re dealing with joint pain and reduced mobility, Omega XL can help improve your condition.

Omega XL has been very helpful for my very painful carpel tunnel. I felt much better very quickly and have no need for Ibuprofen anymore. Yes, it is expensive but well worth the money spent. I am a happy customer.

I saw this product on an infomercial and thought I would give it a try and it works well for me. Omega XL keeps my hands from cramping and swelling and my joints feel better as well. I’m happy there isn’t any aftertaste or burping burping when taking it. Very easy on the stomach.

My only real complaint is that you must take a a lot of pills. The bottle is only enough to last about 2 weeks. Effective but very expensive.

My wife and I ordered this product directly from the manufacturer. We followed the directions but neither my wife nor I have noticed any improvement with our joint pain. We are not happy and will look for a better alternative.

I have taken this supplement for about 3 weeks already but have not felt any improvement. I still feel the same pain in both of my knees. How long will it take to work?
